The rain cancelled our flyball practice for today.
But we did make it to agility this morning. We had an opportunity to work on front crossing and jumps which Sophie did well on. Also got to do some work on weaves. Weaves are so far one of her favorite things.
Then we tried the dog walk for the first time. Well, dog walk needs to be added to list of things Sophie dislikes which include the teeter. Lots of work ahead to get her comfortable on both of them!
Two weeks until our next flyball tournament! If we have a very good weekend, Sophie may earn her FDCH-G. If not this tournament then likely next :-)
How is the dogwalk being introduced in class? (May I ask who the instructor is?)
ReplyDeleteHi, we are taking classes at Jumpin Java and our instructor is Jen Voekel. Its a rather big class unfortunately (8-9 dogs.) We were told to encourage them to get up on it and if they willingly did so to then encourage them to walk and heavily reward as they did so. She told us to take it as slow as needed
ReplyDeleteSince Sophie was so cautious with the teeter, Jen had me click and treat when she looked at it or put her paw on the walk. She will put two paws on the walk and stretch but refuses to put her back paws on to the walk.
I put a treat a little out of her reach when she had her two front paws on the walk. She tried to reach it by stretching. When that was not going to work, she hopped down and tried to reach it from the side of the walk by standing on her back two paws.
