The weather was sunny but not too hot, two racing rings, 99 races a day and we still got done by 4pm :-)
Our team had a good weekend. No one placed but all our teams for the most part ran under 24 seconds and 2 of our green dogs did awesome!
Our team goal isn't to be the fastest team or win our division. Our focus for now is to keep runs under 24 seconds so we get points.
From the NAFA site:
Each time a team races in a NAFA sanctioned Flyball tournament, their dogs earn points based on the following:
- under 24 seconds: each dog racing in that heat receives 25 points towards a Flyball title
- under 28 seconds: each dog receives 5 points
- under 32 seconds: each dog receives 1 point
I am on the team formation committee and man is it complicated. You need to take into account that some dogs tire out and times slow, some dogs can't pass, some dogs do better running last or first etc etc. But this weekend all the planning paid off. Our three teams ran well. One of our green dogs after about 4 years as a warm up dog graduated to running part time this weekend. He even got his FDCH.
And my big wohoo moment of the weekend. Sophie ran consistently, if somewhat slower than normal due to altitude and being a little out of shape. We got 900 points over the weekend which means she earned her FDCH-G title!!!! So proud of my rhino.
In addition, she also did fantastic on leash all weekend long. No reactivity at all. I am thrilled with the progress she has made.

ReplyDeleteGosh Sophie, you sure are athletic. Our Chick would love to play a sport like this, but poor mister has luxating patellas, so he can't do the jump-and-spin moves anymore. He'll be happy on the sidelines with a beer though :)
